SV Schools Loses Alum and Member of the Team

Continues support of SV Dollars for Scholars in his memory

Michael DiRenzo, long time custodian with the Susquehanna Valley School District died unexpectedly Monday the 19th.  Mr. DiRenzo starting a couple of weeks ago had taken some time off to deal with a personal health issue.  His death will leave an empty space in the SV Community, but is also being used as an opportunity to continue his support of the community.  His wishes to support the students he cherished is being realized as part of his memorial services with donations being asked in lieu of flowers to be made to sv.dollarsforscholars.org.  The SV Dollars for Scholars Mission is; to expand higher education opportunities for graduating seniors of the Susquehanna Valley School District, to increase funds available through community awareness and generosity, to make fair, equitable, non-discriminatory awards, andt to promote the value of higher education awareness and opportunities for all students.

The Susquehanna Valley Scholarship Foundation/ Dollars for Scholars began in 1999 with the goal of making college more affordable for Susquehanna Valley graduates. The Scholarship Foundation has increased its awards each year and currently presents between $10,000 and $15,000 to members of the graduating class. The Scholarship Foundations depends upon the generosity of the SV community to raise these graduation awards.

Mr. DiRenzo  was a member of the Susquehanna Valley Class of 1971.   Michael will be remembered most for the loyal friendships he built with his coworkers, many of whom became lifelong friends. He shared countless lasting memories on the golf course and at the bowling alley.  Services and calling hours for Mr. DiRenzo are  on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 4:00PM - 5:30PM at Savage-DeMarco Funeral Service, located at 338 Conklin Ave., Binghamton, NY.   A Celebration of Life be held there at 5:30PM.  Mr. DiRenzo is said to have found great purpose and pride with his work at the Susquehanna Valley School System. By dedicating his intentions to providing a safe, healthy and happy environment to all children who attend ed the schools where he found great joy in showing up to work each day.   Mr. DiRenzo's family kindly requests donations be made to support the students of Susquehanna Valley (sv.dollarsforscholars.org).
