On September 28, 2026, Robert J. Seidel, 84, of Binghamton, was welcomed into Heaven by loved ones. He is survived by; his five children, Robert Seidel, Lori Cron, Lisa Schwartz, Jennifer McManus, and her husband Ed, Kristen Nagorny, and her husband Michael. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren Melissa Masse, Matthew Cron, Elyssa, Eddie, and Jacob McManus, Madison Nagorny, and Stephanie Seidel as well as great-grandchildren Grayden, Camden and Landen Masse. Robert was also survived by his sister, Linda Ranieri, and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his mother and father R. Joseph and Margery Seidel, his siblings Ronald Seidel, Patricia Chase, Beverly Labour, Joanne Flynn, Dennis Seidel, and John Slavik. Robert was also predeceased by his first love, Gladys Seidel, and his beloved mother-in-law, whom he cherished as a mother, Myra Bogert. When Robert returned to New York from Florida, he enjoyed reconnecting with his children and grandchildren and was grateful to have their love and support.
Robert pursued several careers but was fond of driving tractor trailer across the United States. However, later in life he found his calling in ministry. He valued his relationship with God and always loved discussing the “Gospel”. Many of his fellow residents at Elizabeth Church Manor would come to him for moral and spiritual support. He was fondly referred to as “The Mayor” of Elizabeth Church Manor. Robert was an avid sports lover who enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees.
The family will welcome guests for a brief calling hour on Saturday, October 3, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with a service immediately following. The service will be held at Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main Street, Vestal, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his memory.
