John E. Whited, of Conklin, sadly passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the age of 82. He was born on July 5, 1942 in Whitney Point, NY to Dwight and Celestine Whited and grew up in Hallstead, PA. John is preceded in death by; his parents, and his sister, Rose Ann. He is survived by; his wife of 62 sweet years, Linda; three children: Steven Whited (Jody) of Kirkwood NY, Pat Whited (Erin) of Endicott NY, and Megan Johnson (Nicholas) of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren: Brittany Cucci (Anthony), Stephanie Whited (Ben), Austin Whited (Mikkala), Alex Whited, and Cameron Whited; and five great-grandchildren: Donovan McDevitt, Anthony Cucci Jr, Bryant McDevitt, Emmerson Cucci, and Crew Cucci.; sisters, Mary Lynch, Nina McCullough and Cecelia Hardy; one brother Sam Whited; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was a kind and loving person who dedicated his life to his family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. He was a proud, supportive father and grandfather who took great pleasure in going to ball games, hockey games, tennis matches, ski trips, cheer competitions, etc. - always offering positive encouragement and advice.
He loved the outdoors and took joy from being active. He ran marathons, rode his bike countless miles, and skied well into his seventies. He was a driven man who was known in the SV community as a well spoken about bus driver, but also spent 32 years at Ansco/Anitec, GAF, International Paper and then finally enjoyed his retirement from Felcher Manufacturing, he would most often be seen in the company of his buddy, Edison, a Jack Russell terrier. He also had a great sense of humor and liked to chat and share stories with everyone he met. John’s legacy will be one of boundless generosity and love. His kindness has immeasurably touched the lives of so many. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and everyone that had the privilege to know him.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10am Monday December 2, 2024 at Sts. John & Andrew Church in Binghamton. The family will welcome friends at the church from 9 am until the beginning of the Mass.
